Industry Moves: AOL’s Platform-A International Head Also Set For New Role

Brendan Condon, head of overseas ops for AOL’s Platform-A (NYSE: TWX) advertising group, is leaving London after 13 months for a new role - the latest exec change as new CEO Tim Armstrong’s 100-day review nears completion.

A UK spokesperson told us: “Brendan is returning to his home base of New York and we’ll be working with him to determine his next role. He came to Europe to help develop our business here as AOL transitioned from a subscription business to an advertising-supported business. He’s done that and built a good foundation for the company.”

Bebo’s European VP and MD Kate Burns will essentially take Condon’s place, leaving the social net to head what AOL is calling its “European ad sales operation”, as we reported. But the announcement avoids referring to “Platform-A” and a spokesperson was also hesitant to use the moniker, not wanting to prejudge the outcome of Armstrong’s review, which is due to complete in the next two weeks.

Condon, a Time Warner veteran who already led Advertising.com’s international business for AOL, stepped up and moved to London in June 2008, reporting to then Platform-A president Lynda Clarizio to work on combining AOL’s collection of advertising acquisitions in Europe, as it had done elsewhere. AOL UK MD Michael Steckler last year moved over to head Platform-A UK, so could also be in line for a move.
