April ABCes: Traffic Down For Third Straight Month

Here, for fans of the urinating contest that is ABCe results, are Thursday’s latest monthly stats, showing Guardian.co.uk regaining the top spot at the expense of Telegraph.co.uk, Mail Online, Times Online and Sun Online, which all lost unique users. Bringing up the rear, Independent.co.uk and Mirror Group grew their user base. In aggregate, though, traffic dipped 1.6 percent to 135.5 million uniques - the third consecutive fall since a January high of 140.2 million.

For what it’s worth, the lead is now changing hands on a monthly basis - expect May to see a significant uplift for Telegraph.co.uk, going off its expenses scandal coverage. None of this necessarily correlates to how profitable the news groups’ online operations are…
