Arts Alliance Media, which itself has invested in online DVD distributor LoveFilm, has scored a total €43 million investment from Econocom and private investors to carry on its core work of converting European cinemas to digital, Variety reports. Based in London and Paris, Arts Alliance Media helps cinemas deploy digital distribution technology, having installed the 240-screen UK Film Council’s Digital Screen Network and inked digital deals with the major studios. One of its biggest contracts has been France’s CGR Cinemas, which has been converting all its 400 screens. Econocom is stumping up $26 million to finsh the CGR job. Arts Alliance Media has also struck a partnership with radiocommunications group Arqiva to distribute movies via satellite.
