B2B Publisher Wilmington Confirms Takeover Approach

imageB2B publisher Wilmington has confirmed it has received a takeover approach, following Telegraph.co.uk’s report it is talking with private equity group HgCapital and expects to make a decision in the next few weeks. Wilmington rescued Press Gazette from closure in December 2006 when it bought the aging journalists’ trade weekly but it’s since been disposing of other units. It also operates music data gatherer Muze, theatre newsletter PCR and movie contacts book Knowledge Online. Publishers in the B2B space are heavily in play at the moment; New Media Age and The Lawyer publisher Centaur was earlier reported to have begun a strategic review and itself has been cutting costs through axing staff from its Mad.co.uk marketing news site and turning it in to an aggregator for its other titles.
