The BBC has struck deals to syndicate TV show clips to Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO), MSN and Blinkx in order to build iPlayer traffic. Excerpts on those destination sites will link through to full shows on the catch-up VOD player’s site. The corporation said it would have “branded channels” on Yahoo and partnerships with the other two. Yahoo Video relaunched in the US last week but the BBC content will appear on the UK & Ireland TV section; MSN is currently trying to add broadcast partners for its European video destinations.

Meanwhile, the BBC briefed journalists with latest iPlayer stats - 17 million programmes streamed or downloaded, breaking the 500,000-a-day mark last week, 2.2 users in January, radio downloads up from 13.4 million in December to 15.9 in January. Traffic to bbc.co.uk for January was up 29 percent to 20 million weekly visitors (1.3 million of them went to iPlayer).
