- Virgin Media: Philippines-based customer support call centre operator eTelecare will set up a UK subsidiary after winning a contract from Virgin Media (NSDQ: VMED). The company told the Philippine Stock Exchange the move is being made to “comply with the contractual requirements imposed by Virgin Media”; it will invest as much as $2 million (£1.02 million) in the set-up, GMA says. The company bought AOL’s Philippines-based customer care centre for $7.2 million in September.

- S4C: Looking to appeal to viewers outside its heartland, Welsh-language broadcaster S4C is asking the UK government to make the cost of a UK-wide Freeview license more economical. Chair John Walter Jones told the Welsh affairs select committee 122,000 viewers around the UK, outside Wales, already watch S4C - but, due to costs, it only has a slot for Freeview, the dominant platform, at home. It’s trying - S4C is now making shows available as online VOD for a 35-day window - longer than iPlayer’s seven days. Via Western Mail.
