C4 Shutting Channel4Radio.com After Digital Radio Exit

With no digital radio plans on which to pin a website any longer, Channel 4 is, unsurprisingly, closing Channel4Radio.com, which was to be an accompaniment to its DAB ambitions. C4 had actually used the site as a shop window for its podcast, music and speech programming productions, long before its 4radio consortium was eventually awarded the UK’s second digital radio multiplex in July 2007. But financial woes have forced C4 to cancel a range of projects including red-button advertising, mobile initiatives and pull out of DAB altogether.

C4’s future media solutions head Lloyd Shepherd: “We feel we can’t give it the attention and investment it needs, so we’ve decided to close it now rather than let it wither on the vine.”
