Channel 4 Digital Reshuffle To Add First New Media Director

A top-tier restructure at Channel 4 will see the broadcaster make its first dedicated directorial-level new media appointment, a move brought about by the growing importance of digital in the broadcaster’s offerings. C4’s new media division to date has come under the auspices of the new business directorate, but new media MD Andy Taylor is leaving to join independent producer All3Media and the division will now report to its own dedicated new media and technology director, who will report in to C4 CEO Andy Duncan. Albeit with slightly different terminology, the move reflects the change the BBC enacted when it created its own future media and technology division earlier this year and put director Ashley Highfield at the helm. New business director Rod Henwood will continue to oversee the 4OD PC and TV on-demand platform, however. Duncan: “Growing our presence in and our revenue from new digital media platforms is a strategic priority—success in digital media will have a significant impact on Channel 4’s future financing.” (Release via WorldScreen.com).
