Digital Mags Publisher Zinio Eyes Europe With Havas Partnership
San Francisco-based online magazine distributor Zinio is trying to build its European presence through a partnership with Barcelona-based media monitoring and press release distribution service Acceso. Zinio repackages printed magazines online in a Flash app that mimics the page-turning ethos of paper (thereby eschewing the unique characteristics of the web). Acceso is part-owned by France’s Havas publicity group that last month bought UK digital agency BLM Holdings. Zinio currently serves up 850 magazines in this way but hopes to leverage Havas Media’s geographic reach to deliver over 2,200 titles online by year’s end, stressing expansion in Europe and Latin America. Zinio already has a Spanish operation. Release.
