eBay UK Does Behavioural Ad Targeting With AOL’s Tacoda
eBay (NSDQ: EBAY) is switching on its AdChoice system in the UK - a behavioural targeter that uses buyers’ and sellers’ profile data to better target display adverts. eBay unveiled the scheme in the US back in October, powered by AOL’s (NYSE: TWX) Platform-A behavioural unit Tacoda. Now, as a typically het-up Register reports, it’s emailed UK users to say it’s introducing the scheme here via a revision to its privacy policy. It’s not just eBay data being used: “In some cases, we may also use information from other companies to select the right audiences for our promotions ... If you do not wish to accept the new User Agreement or Privacy Policy, please refer to our Help pages for instructions on how to close your account.”
