ESPN Rebrands Another Site; This Time, Cricinfo

imageWe warned you in October Cricinfo was likely to get a name change, and now it’s come to pass. ESPN (NYSE: DIS), which bought the site from Wisden in 2007, has rebadged it “ESPNCricinfo”, just as it re-Christened Scrum.com “ESPNScrum.com” last autumn and made Soccernet.com “ESPNSoccernet.com” after its acquisition from DMGT in ‘99.

After these acquisitions in recent years, ESPN is more tightly aligning its European properties with a view, for example, to a possible Premiership rights bid some time in the future. The network rebranded NASN (North American Sports Network), its European channel for US sports, “ESPN America” in February. One more site ripe for the rebranding - France’s Racing-Live, which ESPN bought in August.
