ESPN Setting Up European Digital Media Unit
Disney’s (NYSE: DIS) ESPN is opening a dedicated Europe, Middle East and Africa digital media outpost, after recently buying and building online efforts catering to international audiences. The sport brand bought cricket site CricInfo from Wisden and rugby site Scrum.com last year and also has ESPNsoccernet.com, ESPNclassic.com, NASN.com and, with worldwide scores ScoreCenter. Former CrincInfo CEO Tom Gleeson becomes VP digital media for ESPN EMEA, reporting EMEA MD Lynne Frank, Media Week said.
