image London-based, football-themed social network Futbo.com has raised $1 million (£644,000) in VC funding from Pitango Venture Capital, according to alarm:clock. The site offers a platform for fans to chat about the game, as well as league, player and team information and a score prediction league. It has video supplied by open source video platform Kaltura—but as alarm:clock rightly points out, fans want and expect to see highlights of games on sports sites and at the moment online VOD rights to English Premier League matches are far beyond the financial reach of smaller online players.
