Jason Dunne, publisher of the ...For Dummies series of books and website at publisher John Wiley, has left to start his online print, online and mobile publishing consultancy after more than six years.

He says he left (via thebookseller.com) “because I’m very excited about the iPhone and the rise of touch-screen phones in general… I’m going to spend some time putting together a roster of developers to build mobile applications for the consumer mass-market.” Dunne, who is yet to name his company, hopes to have his first iPhone apps launched by Autumn this year and will offer his consulting services to any book publishers looking to do the same. He says the iPhone programmer community is “quite dispersed and is crying out for good content ideas… They know there’s money on the table but most don’t have a publisher’s nose.”
