France’s TF1 iPhone App Offers Live, On Demand TV
French terrestrial broadcaster TF1 has launched an iPhone app allowing users to watch live and on demand TV either via wifi connection or 3G. The app went on sale Monday priced €3.99 (£3.45; $5.69). While some European broadcasters - France 24 and Sky News among them -have launched iPhone apps on a free basis, TF1 is following Al Jazeera in charging, according to La Tribune and C21Media.net. In May the company made 450 episodes of its programmes available on iTunes , priced from €1.49, all of which can be viewed on iPhone (release) and increased its online VOD offering in April. Meanwhile TF1’s revenue fell 13 percent to €1.13 billion (£977 million) in the first half of 2009.
