French Content Delivery Provider Ipercast Buying VOIP Platform 3G Factory

French content delivery company Ipercast has bought Lyon-based mobile video provider 3G Factory for an undisclosed fee.
Ipercast delivers online video and audio through its own CDN, which uses the company’s own 6,000 mile fibre-optic network and servers in Europe, North America and Asia.
The acquisition gives it a foothold in the VOIP market in France: 3G Factory claims to be France’s leading video calling provider and its founders Dante Tota and Thierry Barnier and their team will join Ipercast with the task of creating a “single multimedia platform” for mobile. 3G also offers PPV mobile video streaming.
At the same time, Ipercast announces the opening of its London office and the appointment of Marina Sirotkin as country manager for the UK. The company expanded its fibre-optic network to the UK in 2007 and it counts Orange UK and Universal Music among its clients here.
