FT Buying Subscription Bankers’ Info Publisher Medley

The Financial Times loves high-end subscription info so much, it’s buying another such publisher. Medley Global Advisors (MGA) of New York, London and DC provides macro policy advice to hedge funds, investment banks and asset managers - just the thing you’d read if you were a banker on the look-out for looming new legislation.

“This acquisition delivers another premium service to an important FT audience and reinforces our strategy of building strong subscriber and digital businesses in core sectors,” says FT CEO John Ridding, in the announcement.

No acquisition price or terms disclosed, but FT says MGA has $7.3 million in assets.

It’s the latest specialist-info provider the FT has added to its portfolio, following the acquisitions of Mergermarket, Exec-Appointments.com, fund manager site Money-Media and the MandateWire pension-fund service.

The publisher sees MGA as complementing Money-Media and FTfm, its supplement for global fund managers. Ridding sees it as having “substantial scope for international growth”.
