Lady Gaga now carries the record for the most-downloaded song in the UK, according to a ranking released over the weekend by the Official UK Chart Company.  Gaga scored sales of 779,000 on Poker Face, and third-place with Just Dance, which scored 700,000.

Others in the top 10 included Kings of Leon (at numbers two and four), followed by La Roux, Leona Lewis (at numbers six and eight), Alexandra Burke, Snow Patrol, and Nickelback.

The cumulative ranking dates back to 2004, when the OCC first started tracking download sales.  That window limits the authority of the list, though more importantly, the OCC is only tracking paid downloads.

That leaves out the absolutely massive number of freely-acquired downloads, dating back to the late 90s.  According to figures from the IFPI, paid downloads are still a modest minority on a percentage basis, despite aggressive percentage growth since the early 2000s.
