imageimageBob Geldof’s Ten Alps independent TV and online video channel producer has raised around £3 million through a new share placing designed mostly to boost its online ambitions. The company said it wants to accelerate migrating its TV, print and events material “towards a single online aggregator” and build more websites more quickly. It also set aside half of the new funds for online acquisitions.

After producing Teachers TV and the Kent local authority’s Kent TV service last year, Ten Alps is now bidding in more tenders for public service online video portals. It just launched two public service video sites Public TV ( incorporating Optometry TV, Vets TV and GPTV) and Business TV. Other portals are planned for transport and infrastructure, energy and environment, and innovation sectors. The company last year bought online video ad producers Twenty First Century Media of Newcastle and Multimedia Arts of Manchester

The new plans resulting from the funding include creating new, low-cost B2B video channels from a database of existing content and investing in new online video channels for science and accoundancy training. It also announced today it’s buying Northern Irish indie TV producer Below The Radar for up to £796,000.
