German Sports Publisher Funds Amateur Sports Web Platform SpielerKabine.net

imageOlympia Verla, the German publisher of its native Kicker and other magazines, is investing an undisclosed sum in SpielerKabine.net, a web platform for amateur sports groups to manage their games and seasons, a bit like America’s WePlay and LockerDome. Already, the site’s masthead has been updated to read: “Supported by Kicker.”

Founded last year by three university students, SpielerKabine.net on a local web innovation award last year. Olympia chief Toni Schell (via HDM-Stuttgart): “We appreciate the Spielerkabine.net as a well-liked and promising community platform for amateur football. With our involvement and interaction with the Kicker brand, we to take the portal forward and develop our presence in the amateur football area.”
