—Wired: Polymath and Wired UK associate editor Ben Hammersley “has decided to cut his time commitment to the magazine to allow him to pursue other ventures and has been appointed as Wired’s new editor-at-large”, Press Gazette says. So Wired UK editor David Rowan is hiring former Arena editor Greg Williams as executive editor.
Editorial assistant Charlie Burton becomes assistant editor, for the front-of-book Play section. Graduate Tom Cheshire is in for Burton.
—Ladbrokes: Trinity Mirror (LSE: TNI) CEO Sly Bailey is joining the betting firm’s board as a non-exec director. Ashley Highfield joined William Hill’s board 12 months ago.
—ITV (LSE: ITV) chair: Former Asda CEO and Tory MP Archie Norman is ITV’s new chairman, starting January, replacing executive chairman Michael Grade. John Cresswell will be interim CEO. Release and Guardian.co.uk.
—NMA: The Newspaper Marketing Agency (not New Media Age) is replacing outgoing chair Clive Milner, COO of News International, with Paul Hayes, News Int’s commercial MD.
—IAB: The Internet Advertising Bureau UK is hiring Publicis Modem chief strategy officer Tony Effik as chair of its social media council, MediaWeek says.
