AOL UK Eliminates MD Role, Steckler Moves To Platform-A UK

Less than a month after naming Brendan Condon international head for its Platform-A (NYSE: TWX) network of ad firms, AOL is continuing its European integration with a radical reshuffle that emphasises the ad operation over AOL UK’s publishing side. AOL UK MD Michael Steckler is instead being named head of the company’s Platform-A UK operations - and he won’t be replaced as AOL UK MD, Brand Republic reports. Instead, all AOL UK content staff will answer to AOL Europe CEO Dana Dunne and all its ad staff will now come under Platform-A.

At the same time, Kevin Cornils,  who came over as CEO of AOL’s Buy.at affiliate network acquisition in February, is leaving the company next month. Cornils was tapped as managing director of AOL’s Advertising.com UK in April but is to leave the company in August.

The elimination of the managing director role and other recent moves reflect AOL’s three-point structure, which includes Platform-A, the content division and the People Networks social media functions formed following the $850 million (£417 million) purchase of community site Bebo in March.
