BT (NYSE: BT) Vision’s director of business affairs Mark Cranwell is joining Babelgum as director of content strategy. Babelgum has tried to differentiate itself from similar platforms like Joost with a leaning toward indie films - a kind of content for which you’d think producers would be happy to get distribution. Cranwell will report to head of content strategy Simon Kenny in London, C21 says. Troubled Babelgum lost its CTO in November, a month after its CEO quit after being sidelined. For BT, Cranwell had inked deals with Premier League and movie studios. Babelgum has recently been running an indie film fest with Spike Lee and linked up with the Encounters Short Film Festival.
