Industry Moves: Channel 4, Virgin Media, BBC

Channel 4: David Abraham will replace Andy Duncan as the next CEO of Channel 4. Abraham is currently the CEO of the multichannel digital broadcaster UKTV, a JV of Virgin Media (NSDQ: VMED) and BBC Worldwide. (Release - download)

Virgin Media: Richard Larcombe is joining Virgin Media in a new role as the operator’s director of advertising and sponsorship. He is currently at publisher News International, where he is head of brand marketing for The Times, The Sunday Times and Times Online. (via Marketing)

BBC: Chris Jones has been named social media manager for the BBC, a new role aimed at getting the broadcaster to use more social media tools in its output. This comes on the heels of the BBC appointing Alex Gubbay as its first social media editor for BBC News in November. Jones has been a blog editor for the BBC, most recently working on the “About the BBC” blog. (via Broadcast)
