Industry Moves: Conde Net International Picks Bilefield As President
Conde Nast’s overseas digital arm CondeNet International has found its replacement for recently departed international new media president Stefano Maruzzi - it’s former OpenAds CEO and Skype Europe GM James Bilefield, as his LinkedIn profile shows.
Maruzzi joined from MSN in 2007 and was responsible for 58 websites in 12 countries. Maruzzi led the launch of Wired.co.uk in Britain and Wired.it in his native Italy; he also centralised CondéNast’s digital activities across its online titles through CondéNet’s management structure, ending the practice of magazines varying their publishing models from title to title. Maruzzi said in March he would leave, around the same time as the unit had layoffs that left it with 42 staff.
Bilefield was with Skype between 2004 and 2007, then joined the ad company open-source ad software firm OpenAds as CEO, but left when the company moved to LA, rebranded and hired former Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) advertising exec Tim Cadogan in his place.
