Industry Moves: Dailymotion Adds Googler, Viacom Preps For Lobbying

Dailymotion: The video sharing site’s UK MD Kate Burns is luring a Googler from her former employer to join her as commercial director. Gareth Walton will try to find revenue for the site, which has raised plenty of VC and now needs to start making money. That includes homepage and channel sponsorships, pre- and post-roll ads and in-video ads. Burns was Google’s (NSDQ: GOOG) fourth UK employee. Via NetImperative.

Viacom: Discovery Communications’ (NSDQ: DISCA) government affairs director Philip Jenner is joining Viacom (NYSE: VIA) to become European government relations VP, based out of London. In other words, he will be charged with lobbying the European Commission and member states on broadcast policy. Jenner also previously worked similar roles at BSkyB.
