UK real estate portal Propertyfinder.com has appointed former MSN UK MD Gillian Kent as its new CEO. In a statement, Kent said that the UK property web site market was “ready for a shake-up” and that rival Rightmove’s current position as the most popular portal was not “pre-ordained.” Despite growing concerns over a downturn in the UK housing market, property portals have never been more popular. In November, ad-funded real estate site Globrix launched, while today saw the roll out of Zoopla, a property site promising more powerful algorithmic tools, and backed by VC firm Atlas Ventures, among others.
