Industry Moves: Shrimsley New FT.com Ed; Channel 4; Havas Digital

imageFT.com: FT news editor Robert Shrimsley (pictured) has been appointed managing editor of the site, taking over from James Montgomery, whose future role is unclear. The company says he is “exploring several options in print and online at the FT”.The editorial shake-up comes as the company announces it has passed the one million registered users mark. Also changing jobs is editor of the paper’s European edition John Thornhill who moves to London as the FT’s news editor, replacing Shrimsley.

Channel 4: While a question mark hangs over its future funding model, Channel 4 has appointed former head of operations for new media Louise Brown as its head of cross platform publishing. The first shows to get the 360 degree commissioning treatment are Channel 4 News and Hollyoaks, building on the cross-platform audience gorowth of Skins, Big Brother and Embarrassing Bodies. Brown will be keeping a close eye on 4IP projects to see if any could evolve into cross-platform commissions. From NMA.

Havas: French communications and advertising group Havas has appointed Gabriel Saenz de Buruaga and Anthony Rhind as joint CEOs in charge of Havas Digital, replacing Don Epperson who is leaving the company. Saenz de Buruaga steps up from his current COO role and Rhind is promote from chief strategy officer. Via BrandRepublic.com.
