Guardian Media Group is adding Accel Partners VC partner Judy Gibbons as a non-executive director - a sign of further digital focus. Gibbons’ Accel investments include Weeworld, Autoquake and - most notably - mobile web enhancer Mippin, of which she was this year even named CEO.  Prior to that, she helped set up MSN UK and held tech roles at O2, HP and Apple.

Only last month, Gibbons shared a stage with GMG digital director Simon Waldman in a panel at the Association of Online Publishers conference, discussing media investment strategies. GMG’s board also includes Lastminute.com founder Brent Hoberman. BSkyB (NYSE: BSY) also added a digital media VC as a non-executive director this year - Index’s Danny Rimer.
