Industry Moves: GMTV, Pearson, Mergermarket, Independent

GMTV: Clive Crouch is leaving his position as chief operating officer of the broadcaster. The news comes as GMTV’s owner, ITV (LSE: ITV), this week reported a profit of £25 million for 2009 after a loss of £2.7 billion in 2008. (Via C21.net.)

Pearson: Terry Burns, the new chairman of Channel 4, is stepping down as a non-executive director of Pearson (NYSE: PSO) in April. He has been a board member since 1999…

Mergermarket:...And an executive change at one of Pearson’s companies. Hamilton Matthews is the new CEO of the Mergermarket Group, a division of Pearson’s FT Group that provides news and data to the financial sector. Matthews was previously in charge of commercial and operational activities in the EMEA region.

The Independent: Ian Birrell is resigning as the newspaper’s deputy editor. He has worked for the Independent for 12 years and leaves as the paper is in negotiations for a sale to Alexander Lebedev. No news yet on Birrell’s next move. (Via Press Gazette.)
