Industry Moves: Mail On Sunday; Telegraph Media Group; Reed Midem; Five/Channel 4
—Mail on Sunday: Associated Newspapers has hired former Bauer Media executive Marcus Rich as MD of the Mail on Sunday and deputy MD of Mail Newspapers which merged sales staff across the two titles in October. Rich replaces Stephen Miron who led the paper’s high profile give-away of Prince’s Planet Earth album in 2007 and left last year to join Global Radio. From Guardian.co.uk.
—Telegraph Media Group: Adding to its list of new media executives as it outsources production and subbing duties overseas, Telegraph Media Group has appointed former Sunday Times journalist and Soccernet founder Greg Hadfield head of digital development. Hadfield and his son Tom sold Soccernet to ESPN (NYSE: DIS) for £15 million shortly after its acquisition by Disney in 1999. Tim Rowell, who led oversaw the launch of TMG’s new web publishing system last year, has been promoted to digital publisher for the group.
—Reed Midem: Paul Johnson, television division director at Paris-based conference organiser Reed Midem, has announced he is to leave the company in March after six years in the role running events such as MIPTV and MIPCOM. Reed’s director of customer relationship marketing Laurine Garaude will fill the roll until a permanent replacement is found.
UPDATE: Johnson will move to pan-European television and online production company Endemol, the people behind Big Brother and Deal or No Deal, as global head of marketing and brand partnerships. He will be based in London and starts work in March.
—Channel 4/Five: Catherine Bray, former commissioning editor at Channel 4’s 4 Talent talent project, has been recruited to the new role of VOD editor at Five. From c21media.net.
