Industry Moves Round-Up: Johnston Press E-Commerce, Pluck, Bebo

Johnston Press: Currently trialling local online news paywalls, the struggling paper publisher is adding Mastercard’s global e-commerce chief as a non-exec director, as ex Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) Europe MD Martina King steps down in April, MediaWeek reports. This is a very interesting move that could suggest the publisher is serious about taking payments - Iddison was previously PayPal’s European CEO and UK MD.

Pluck The social media platform vendor is expanding its European team by adding Sigrid Eyres to head German sales and Marguerite Monrose to lead French sales. European sales VP Stephanie Himoff, whom I interviewed last week, says: “We plan to create more jobs in Europe over the next 12 months.”

Bebo: After the social net’s UK layoffs, sales head Simon Podd is joining RDF’s new Contact digital division in the same role. Podd had led sales for the Bebo Originals video series. Podd will have similar roles at RDF, building branded content video and new series. Via MediaWeek.
