We told you last week Michael Jackson would find chart fame again - and he has. Jackson sold 300,000 albums and singles between the announcement of his death Thursday night and close-of-play Saturday, The Official UK Charts Company tells us.

Jackson commanded more than one in every five Top 200 singles chart slots Sunday night, and has 20 in the Top 75 (Man In The Mirror highest at 11). That confirms acts can re-emerge up the long tail in the digital age, when old, out-of-print material can become new again.

Indeed, Jackson is proving more popular online...

—Though Man In The Mirror didn’t break in to the cross-platform Top 10, it’s #2 in iTunes Store’s UK downloads chart.

—And although he has just two collections in the cross-platform Top 10 album chart, that’s eight out of 10 in iTunes’ album rundown.

Despite Man In The Mirror hitting #2 in iTunes, that’s barely a dent when compared with the US equivalent, where eight of the Top 10 tracks are Jackson’s. That could be because singles downloads are healthier in the UK, where La Roux’s In For The Kill has sold 500,000 cross-platform copies since March 16.
