Joost Plans European Expansion, Adds German Channels
Video site Joost wants to show more than just English-language videos. The service has just added 11 German content partners; their vids will be published through Joost’s new distribution partnership with pan-European social network Netlog, as well as on Joost itself, but international acquisitions VP Stacey Seltzer, in a release, also said: “Joost plans to roll out localised offerings in a number of European countries. Germany is one of the first markets where we’re able to partner with ... content and social networking partners, in order to create an ... entertainment experience for consumers in this country. Europe is a priority for Joost and this partnership is a significant step towards engaging that market.”
The new German partners: Diva for films; Süddeutsche Zeitung TV for documentaries; JUM-TV for comedy; Spin tv for entertainment, MfG-Film for interviews; Casino Royale for series; Rebel Media for extreme sports; TV shows from Welt der Wunder, Turner and and Cartoon Network; Wieduwilt for entertainment; Euronews for news; KIT digital WOW! TV for gossip, and music from Intro and c/o pop.
