Users of Last.fm Radio (back-to-back, non-on-demand track streaming) outside the UK, US and Germany were due to start paying €3 a month from today, as the site looks for non-advertising income to pay royalties for the music it uses. But the site has postponed the switchover after user input convinced it to tweak the offering. Co-founder Richard Jones, who was listening to Buckcherry Monday morning wrote Last.fm is investigating alternative payment options to just PayPal, will let users buy the subscriptions for friends and will let third-party app developers offer streams using the Radio API to users who are paid subscribers. This doesn’t alter the basic premise of the subscription model, however.
