Lycos Europe Sells Its Stake In Tom’s Hardware Publisher Best Of Media
Lycos Europe has sold its eight percent stake in France’s Best Of Media to Alter Finance Capital for 1.7 million euros (£1.2 million). Best Of Media is the publisher behind the 11-year-old Tom’s Hardware tech reviews site, its spin-offs and others in French. (Via release). Best Of Media brought in a 64,000 euro (£45,290) loss in 2005, according to Lycos’ 2006 annual report. Best Of Media merged Tom’s Hardware and its TG Publishing parent in to what it rather boldly claims is Europe’s third-biggest online publisher in April 2007. It also operates BestofMicro.com, Presence-PC.com, Infos-du-net.com, JeuxVideoPC.com, and JeuxVideo-Flash.com. Lycos Europe has been struggling in the last year or two to make money from online ads and has been ploughing money in to developing its content offerings.
