Microsoft was given a 497 million euro fine back in 2004, when it was found to have broken competition law by tying Windows Media Player to Windows and by making it expensive for third parties to develop for its server products. It appealed that decision and was instead slapped with a further 280.5 euro fee for non-compliance with instructions it was given. Now it’s appealing the fine, Reuters reports. At this rate, it’s one step forward and two steps back financially for Microsoft in Europe.
