@ Mipcom: UK To Get Orange’s Three-Screen Rewind TV
Orange will roll-out its innovative Rewind TV service in the UK as part of its IPTV plans. Pascal Thomas, VP of Orange’s NExT mobile media division, told paidContent:UK the tri-platform French service would figure after the initial delivery of the Orange TV offering in the UK. Rewind TV, which complements the telco’s TV-over-broadband offering at home in France, allows subscribers to watch the same on-demand programmes on mobile phones and the desktop internet that they can on their set-top-box enabled TV. For example, watching a soap on mobile whilst commuting and continuing the viewing at home in the lounge (see my video in full post). Orange’s UK IPTV roll-out has faced delays, but the company said at the IBC conference in Amsterdam last month it “will launch later this year” and Herve Payan, Orange’s SVP for content services, reiterated that timescale in a separate Mipcom session yesterday. Thomas confirmed that Rewind TV would be added to the UK service and, like the French original, will include mobile, desktop internet and IPTV.
