Mippin Tries To Bridge Mobile And Desktop Web

Fulham, London-based Refresh Mobile, which last gave us Mobizines - mini, mobile versions of brand-name magazines - has launched its latest mobile content play, but this time is dispensing with the application development. Mippin looks like a mobile web browser cum RSS reader that comes pre-loaded with content feeds from thousands of sites (including paidContent). Except, it isn’t a browser at all - dedicated to content sites, Mippin is a gateway reformats standard web pages mobile users visit on their crappy Wap browsers for the small screen. If it can pull it off sufficiently well, there’s potential for white-labeling the service to handset makers - after all, bringing the desktop web to the palm is a much sought-after holy grail.
