Mobile Content Bits: BBC In Bangladesh, MusicWave/Mobile Streams, MMA CEO, WPP Reboots Kinetic

imageBBC in Bangladesh: The World Service Trust is to work with Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC) to develop mobile learning projects in Bangladesh. The Swedish provider will add a mobile component to a website and possibly TV shows as part of a project funded by the UK Department for International Development’s English in Action project. Release.

MusicWave/Mobile Streams: London-based mobile service platform Mobile Streams (SEA: MOS) and Musiwave, which Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) bought from Openwave (NSDQ: OPWV) in 2007 for $50 million, are extending their UK mobile content partnership to Italy, Spain, France, Australia, New Zealand and, later, other countries. Musicwave’s services help carriers offer music and other entertainment over mobile. Mobile Streams recently added HBO shows including Sex And The City to Musiwave, for example. Release.

MMA CEO: The Mobile Marketing Association is hiring Nuance Communications industry affairs VP Mike Wehrs as its new president and CEO. Wehrs had previously been on the boards of Open Mobile Alliance, CTIA, Bluetooth Special Interest Group and others.

WPP: The marketing group is renaming its mobile agency Kinetic Mobile as Joule, to be the preferred mobile partner for all its GroupM agencies Mindshare, MediaCom, Maxus, Mediaedge:CIA and Kinetic. UK MD will be Todd Tran, an alum of Flytxt and Minick. Via MediaWeek.
