Mobile Content Bits: Dennis’s Paid-For iPhone App; Absolute Radio; Shazam On Windows Mobile
—Dennis Publishing: Dennis’s online lads’ mag Monkey is working on an app costing £1.79, with Android and Blackberry versions being considered. The forthcoming app is built by MobileQ and will feature scantily clad women—but will it get past Apple’s notoriously prudish app approval process which banned The Sun’s planned Page 3 app? Via NMA.
—Absolute Radio: The station formerly known as Virgin will launch a live streaming service for BlackBerry and Nokia (NYSE: NOK) handsets, adding to its Android and iPhone carriage deals. The station this month launched a user-programmed online/DAB station Dabbl. From NMA.
—Shazam: Song-recognising mobile app Shazam is now available on Windows Mobile handsets via the newly launched Windows Mobile Marketplace. As well as a free version, which allows five songs to be “discovered” per month, users can download a “full-featured” version for a one-off fee which allows unlimited discovery. The app is $4.99 on Nokia’s Ovi store and free on iPhone.
