Mobile Content Bits: Zed Buys In Russia; T-Mob Snubs Orange Bid; French Mobile TV; Shazam

image Zed acquires stake in Temafon: Spanish mobile content giant Zed Group has paid more than $5 million (£8.2 million) for a “50 percent plus 1” share in Temafon, a Russian mobile content aggregation service and part of Tema Mobile Media, according to Russian business newspaper Vedomosti (via Quintura), citing two unnamed sources “close to the deal”.  A Zed spokesperson confirmed the purchase but declined to disclose the financial terms of the acquisition. Temafon is the exclusive aggregator of Russian-based mobile content to Beeline, the carrier brand of VimpelCom, the country’s second largest network, which owns an indirect minority share in the aggregator.

DT rejects Orange’s bid for T-Mob UK: Orange’s bid for its rival T-Mobile UK was rejected by the troubled carrier’s German parent, Deutsche Telekom (NYSE: DT), reports the Guardian.co.uk, which did not site a source. The unit has been dogged by rumours that DT wants to be rid of it, despite its newly appointed CEO stepping into the job this week to try to turn things around.

France mulling deadline for mobile TV licenses: French media regulator CSA may impose a deadline for mobile TV licenses after getting back a grand total of two signed contracts from a possible 16, after French TV stations questioned their ability to make a go of the new format. Out of the 16 channels awarded a mobile TV license, only BFM TV and NRJ 12 have signed and returned their contracts to the regulator, reports Telecompaper.

Shazam on Ovi: The music-identifying app is amongst the first to get distribution on Nokia’s new Ovi Store. The app will sell for the equivalent of €5.
