—Vtap: Sony (NYSE: SNE) Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC) has added a Vtap button to its portal, which will give users access to videos from user-generated sites like YouTube, DailyMotion and MySpace. The Vtap button is run by Veveo, which claims to offer 150 million web videos reports C21 Media. Veveo has a similar deal with Motorola.
—College: The National Intramural– Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA), which reaches 5.5 million students in 820 colleges across the US, will launch a menu-driven mobile web application that will allow students and others to access recreation and intramural information on their web-enabled handsets. The service will be advertising and sponsor supported and run by Hothand Wireless. Students can also opt-in to receive text messages from staff.
