imageVodafone (NYSE: VOD) confirmed this morning at Mobile World Congress that it will start selling an Android device, called the HTC Magic, this spring. The phone will be sold exclusively through Vodafone in UK, Spain, Germany and France and available on a non-exclusive basis in Italy. No word on how much it will cost, other than it will be free with some price plans. The phone is being called a “tablet-style device,” with a 3.2” touch screen display and features a trackball and navigational buttons. The Magic includes access to Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Mail, and POP3 and IMAP email, as well as Google Talk for IM. As with the first Android phone, the T-Mobile G1, the Magic comes with an Android Webkit browser, and other Google applications, like Maps, Search and YouTube.

Not many details were available on how it would be different than the T-Mobile G1. But it will be available in white in the UK, Spain and France, black in Germany and in both colors in Italy. The HTC Magic will be for sale in several other Vodafone markets over the next few months. Release.
