New Media Resolutions #5: Ben Drury, CEO, 7Digital
Over Christmas and New Year, paidContent:UK is asking digital media execs to pledge a resolution for the year ahead and look back at the last 12 months. Last time was BBC News technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones; next up is online music distributor and retailer 7Digital‘s chief exec Ben Drury…
—What’s your New Year’s resolution?: “Learn to play tennis (again). Try to maintain strong growth in the face of the deep recession. Try to climb some more mountains.”
—Biggest regret of 2008?: “Trying to do too many things. All at the same time. It’s very hard to remain laser focused, but it’s very important to have that discipline for a small, fast-growth company.”
—What will really happen next year?: “More change and innovation in music. Connected devices that directly access music services (bypassing computers) will be more prevalent. I dream of a day where I can access my music in any location. CD sales will continue to decline and the pace of decline will accelerate in 2009.”
