Orange Tries French Google News Rival ‘24/24 News’ With 25 Partners
Orange’s Labs R&D unit in France has soft-launched a new multimedia news aggregation service, 24/24 News, aiming to offer news search and personalisation for online newspapers, radio and TV. But like Google News, editorialisation is automatic, depending on metadata supplied by the partners. For video, that data will even help split videos in to individual scenes, to which users can jump to satisfy their specific query. Later versions may incorporate Orange’s own speech-to-text technologies. 24/24 will be organised in to a number of different new subjects. A beta test will open on April 15.
