Newsquest re-launch: The Gannett-owned regional publisher has given a facelift to 150 of its newspaper websites, including Telegraphandargus.co.uk and Lancashiretelegraph.co.uk, adding more than four million previously print-only archived stories, as well as improved search and a new design. According to the latest magazine ABCs, Newsquest’s sites collectively attracted an average of 4.7 million unique monthly users in H208. Via J.co.uk.

The Economist: The heavyweight current affairs mag is offering readers the chance to become one-off subscribers, ordering just one issue for next-day delivery via online or text message. The price is £4, the same as newsstand copies, and there’s no obligation to become a full subscriber. From Guardian.co.uk.

TES redundancies: TSL Education is making five staff redundant at Times Education Supplement and shutting its Cardiff office, leaving just one full-time Welsh reporter. Two London-based subeditors and a designer have taken voluntary redundancy. From PG.

News International mag launch: The company has unveiled a new print title: science and environment magazine Eureka will be given away with the Thursday edition of The Times once a month and it launches in October. Existing Times journalists will contribute as well some new staff, which raises the question of whether this is a separate title or another Times pull-out. Via Mediaweek.
