Russia’s New Video Ad Network Videonow Set For Launch

Some smart people are taking advantage of Russia’s relative boom in digital fortunes by setting up a video ad platform in the world’s biggest country. Lenta.ru (via Sfnblog.com) reports that Videonow is set to launch any day now allowing partners such as vezdi.ru, TheChannel and Mopoto.com to show banner ads and in video ads. Videonow claims Russians watch 150 million videos a month and has set its sights on getting ads on six percent of that traffic, or ten million ad views. Contextual ad agency Begun, which Google (NSDQ: GOOG) would have bought if it weren’t for Russia’s anti-trust authorities, has been doing video ads since June on community site Rambler Vision, part of its parent company Rambler Media.
