Telegraph.co.uk has been forced to bring its community and blog operation in-house after its development contractor was placed in to administration. Interresource had worked with the newspaper over several years, including on its latest redesign stemming back to 2005, before building MyTelegraph (a personalised comment, blog and community platform for readers) and staff writers’ own blogs. But Interesource was put in to administration in November, just a couple of months after it was bought by interactive marketing agency Global Beach.

The move had been a “massive shock to all concerned”, technical director James Higgs wrote in his leaving note; upon the acquisition, Global Beach had pinned Interesource as “an ideal addition to our agency”. MyTelegraph was “in limbo” through November and December before Telegraph.co.uk brought the server in-house, communities editor Shane Richmond wrote last night, adding server problems are now resolved. Higgs is consulting with the paper on upcoming digital publishing projects via his new Resident Digital company. Interesource had also built the recently relaunched Handbag.com site and blogs for The Mirror.
