US Retailer Gamestop Buys Stake In Games Site Jolt.co.uk

US games retailer Gamestop has taken a stake in Ireland-based online gaming news, info and distribution platform Jolt.co.uk. Entrepreneur Dylan Collins is selling some of his shares as part of the deal, but retains a minority stake as Sbpost.ie reports. Collins is CEO of Dublin-based OMAC Industries which bought Jolt in June last year (via Gamesindustry.biz). Jolt signed a partnership with Ferrago’s Play.tm site in January.

“JOLT will allow us to test digital distribution,” says Gamestop’s EVP of merchandising and marketing Tony Bartel. “We like the business model of being able to take IP from publishers, and then help them sell it when they port it to the browser space.” Read more at our sister site paidContent.org.
